Individual therapy can be very beneficial in treating problems such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and low self-esteem.  Moreover, individual psychotherapy can help those who have been through a major life transition, crisis, or trauma.  My approach is supportive, collaborative, and interactive.   I focus on helping individuals gain insight into their struggles and find their own strengths.

The initial sessions of therapy are an evaluation process.  Patients discuss why they are seeking treatment and I ask questions to try to understand the nature of the person's difficulties.    Once a treatment plan is established and the individual has decided to continue to see me, the sessions become less interview-like in their format.  Patients can speak about what is on their mind and as I listen, I help people identify patterns in their thinking and behavior that may be contributing to their difficulties.
